Who we are

This website is operated by L.C Plumbing Services, a plumbing and heating business run by Luke Claydon, based in Alconbury Weston, Cambridgeshire (PE28 5TU). For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the "data controller" for the personal information you provide to us.

We take your privacy seriously and only collect the information we genuinely need to give you a quote and carry out your work. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What information we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us. That typically includes:

  • Your contact details: name, phone number and email address.
  • Job details: the address of the work and a description of what you need, including anything you tell us in the enquiry form, by phone, email or WhatsApp.
  • Correspondence: messages and photos you send us about a job.

We do not collect special category data, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. We do not buy or sell personal data.

How we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

  • respond to your enquiry and provide a quote;
  • arrange, carry out and follow up on plumbing and heating work;
  • keep records of work done, including any gas safety records we are required to hold;
  • send you invoices and deal with payments;
  • meet our legal and insurance obligations.

Our lawful bases

Under the UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases for processing your data:

  • Consent: when you contact us through the website form or message us, you are asking us to get in touch.
  • Contract: where we need your details to provide a quote or carry out work you have asked for.
  • Legal obligation: where we must keep records for tax, gas safety or insurance purposes.
  • Legitimate interests: to run our business, respond to enquiries and keep proper records, in a way you would reasonably expect.

Cookies and similar technology

A cookie is a small file stored on your device. This website is deliberately kept simple and does not use any tracking, analytics or advertising cookies.

We only use essential storage to remember that you have seen our cookie notice, so it does not keep reappearing. This is stored locally in your browser and is not shared with anyone.

Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google to download them and Google may receive your IP address as part of that request. No cookies are set by us for this. If you would prefer, you can block third-party requests in your browser settings, though some styling may be affected.

If we add any non-essential cookies in future (for example website analytics), we will ask for your consent first.

Who we share your information with

We never sell your data. We only share it where necessary to run our business or where the law requires it. This may include:

  • Our form provider: enquiries sent through the website form are delivered to our email by FormSubmit, which processes the submission on our behalf.
  • Email and hosting providers: who store our website and email so we can receive and reply to you.
  • Professional and legal bodies: such as Gas Safe, HMRC or our insurer, where we are required to provide records.

These providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we expect appropriate safeguards to be in place.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information only for as long as we need it. Enquiries that do not lead to work are kept for a short period and then deleted. Records relating to work we have carried out, including invoices and gas safety records, are kept for up to six years to meet tax, insurance and safety requirements, after which they are securely deleted.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct anything that is wrong;
  • ask us to delete your data where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
  • object to or ask us to restrict how we use your data;
  • withdraw your consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, just get in touch using the details below. We will respond within one month.

Keeping your information safe

We use reasonable measures to keep your information secure and limit access to it. While no method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, we take care to protect the data you share with us.
